T-Bone Steak with Bone Broth
A grilled T-bone steak served with a warming cup of bone broth. Rich and nourishing carnivore dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 T-bone steak
- 1 cup Bone broth
Cooking Steps
Take the steak out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before cooking and pat dry. Season generously with salt.
Heat a heavy pan or grill to high heat until very hot.
Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until a meat thermometer reads 54-57C (130-135F); T-bone is thick, so tilt the pan and baste with the rendered fat for even cooking.
Rest the steak for 5 minutes before slicing.
Meanwhile, heat the bone broth gently in a small pan until steaming, and season to taste.
Serve the steak with the warm bone broth alongside.
Plant & Growing Tips
Rosemary
- Not in the recipe, but grow it to complement the rich flavor of steak.
- Plant rosemary in full sun and well-drained soil; it tolerates drought once established.
- It can be easily grown in containers, making it suitable for any size garden.
Lettuce
- Not in the recipe, but grow a crisp lettuce for a fresh side salad to balance the meal.
- Sow lettuce seeds in cool weather, ideally in spring or autumn, providing consistent moisture.
- Choose a loose-leaf variety for a 'cut-and-come-again' harvest, or grow heading types for whole heads.
Natural Pest Control
- Aphids: Blast with a strong stream of water to dislodge them from plants.
- Slugs and Snails: Set out shallow beer traps or hand-pick them in the evening.
Harvest
Rosemary
- Snip sprigs of rosemary as needed, focusing on new, tender growth for the best flavor.
Lettuce
- Harvest outer leaves of loose-leaf varieties to allow the plant to continue producing, or cut the entire head at the base when it reaches desired size.
