Plant & Growing Tips
Blueberries
- Plant blueberries in a sunny spot with acidic soil, ideally between pH 4.5 and 5.5, or grow them in large containers with appropriate potting mix.
- Ensure consistent moisture, especially during fruit development, but avoid waterlogging.
- For better yields, plant at least two different varieties for cross-pollination.
Natural Pest Control
- Protect ripening berries from birds by draping fine netting over the bushes.
- Hand-pick any Japanese beetles you find on leaves and drop them into soapy water.
Harvest
Blueberries
- Harvest blueberries when they are fully blue, plump, and easily detach from the stem with a gentle tug.
- Pick regularly over several weeks as they ripen at different times on the bush.
Storing & Freezing
Freezer bag up to 1 month.
