Plant & Growing Tips
Garlic
- Plant individual cloves pointy-end up in well-drained soil in autumn or early spring.
- Ensure full sun and space cloves 4-6 inches apart.
- Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during bulb development.
Natural Pest Control
- Use row covers to prevent onion thrips from reaching young plants.
- Practice crop rotation to avoid onion maggots and do not plant garlic in the same spot year after year.
Harvest
Garlic
- Harvest when the lower leaves begin to yellow and fall over, but before all the leaves are brown.
- Carefully loosen the soil with a fork and pull bulbs gently to avoid bruising.
Storing & Freezing
Store at room temperature or refrigerate. Shelf life: Up to 12 months.
