Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 150g each)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Cooking Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.

  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and pepper.

  3. Brush the glaze generously over each salmon fillet, coating them well.

  4. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F).

  5. Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping.

  6. Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 8-10 minutes, flipping the fillets halfway through for even cooking.

  7. Once done, let the salmon rest for a few minutes and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Optional Enhancements

  • Maple syrup can be used instead of honey for a vegan option.
  • Tamari can replace soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • You can add sesame oil to the glaze for an extra layer of flavor.

Plant & Growing Tips

Green Onions

  • Plant sets in well-draining soil in full sun after the last frost for best growth.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged by watering regularly.
  • Green onions grow well in containers at least 6 inches deep, making them suitable for small spaces.

Natural Pest Control

  • Hand-pick any onion thrips or leaf miners you observe on the foliage.
  • Use row covers early in the season to protect young plants from onion maggot flies.
  • Companion plant with carrots, lettuce, or chamomile to deter onion flies.

Harvest

Green Onions

  • Snip outer leaves with scissors as needed, leaving the bulb in the ground to regrow for a continuous harvest.
  • For larger scallions, pull the entire plant when the white base is about 1/2 inch thick.

Storing & Freezing

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes at 160°C (320°F) to maintain crispness.
