Estimated. Worked out from the ingredients using the UK food composition tables, so treat it as a guide rather than a measurement. A typical recipe lands within about a quarter of the true figure. Makes about 4.
Ingredients
- 400g firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)
Cooking Steps
1. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and nutritional yeast until well combined.
3. Pour the seasoning mixture over the tofu cubes and gently toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
4. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (392°F).
5. Once preheated, place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 15 minutes.
6. At the 7-minute mark, shake the basket to ensure even crisping.
7. After 15 minutes, check for desired crispiness; if necessary, air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Optional Enhancements
- Use sesame oil instead of olive oil for a nutty flavor.
- Swap dried herbs for fresh herbs (use twice the amount).
- For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the seasoning.
Storing & Freezing
Store any leftover tofu bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them back in the air fryer at 180°C (356°F) for about 5 minutes to restore their crispiness.
