Fried Green Tomatoes

A Southern classic using unripe tomatoes and a crispy cornmeal coating.

Ingredients

  • 3–4 firm green tomatoes (unripe)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 egg + 2 tbsp milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional: paprika, garlic powder, remoulade sauce

Storing & freezing

Best eaten fresh. Freeze breaded slices (uncooked) for up to 3 months.
